Merging Calendar and Address Book data from one OSX account to another

This is a continuation from a Twitter conversation via our Best Buy @Twelpforce feed that’s been moved here due to the length of the information requested.    @myrtlebeachblog: From my understanding of your situation, after using the OSX Migration Assistant to bring files and settings from the old system to the new one, you now have two accounts and want to merge the Calendar and Address Book data into one account.   To do this, go into the account you wish to delete and open iCal.  Under the File menu, choose Export.  This will allow you to create a backup file for the calendar you have selected, which you should save to your desktop.  If you have more than one calendar (ex: work, home, etc) in iCal, you will need to select each one and repeat the File, Export method to save each as a file.   Copy the file(s) you saved to /Users/<user name>/Public.  This will make them available later when you log into the other user account.  When you log into that other account, you will again open iCal, then select File and then Import to locate the saved file and bring it into your other iCal list.   Backing up Address Book data is similar.  Open Address Book, then select File and then Export, then Address Book Archive.  Save the file to your desktop, then copy to /Users/<username>/Public.  Log out, then log into your other account and choose File, Import, Address Book Archive… to import the data.   Once you’re satisfied that you have all the information from the second account safely in the first account, you can delete that second account using System Preferences.   If you have any further information, please feel free to send another tweet to @Twelpforce   * * * What’s @Twelpforce?  Twelpforce is a collective force of Best Buy technology pros offering tech advice in tweet form.  Check our our Twitter account feed at http://twitter.com/Twelpforce
