   You broke your phone, but you don’t say whether you currently have a contract. If you do have a current contract, it doesn’t end because you broke your phone. You still have to complete your contract by purchasing another phone, or you have to pay to get released from your contract, usually around $200 or so.
   It’s a little hard to read your details without any punctuation, but I’ll do my best. Walmart has contract phones and pre-paid phones. You can’t buy a phone without a contract or pre-paid plan. Walmart has to activate the phone. Walmart is like any other phone vendor, no better and certainly less knowledgeable than other vendors.
   Which phone service you purchase depends on where you live, where you travel, and how the phone service is in those areas. I have to use Verizon because there are areas I frequently visit that have no coverage from any other service than from Verizon. Check the coverage maps for each service you are considering.
   The price depends on how many minutes you use. If you are using over 200 minutes a month, it may be cheaper to buy a contract than pre-paid, so consider your typical usage pattern.
   Boost has unlimited phone, text and Internet for $50 per month, so that might be an option to consider if you have Boost in your area. Metro PCS has a similar plan for $40 per month, but without the Internet.
   Also, most phone services have a discount for employees of major companies and their families, so see if there is a discount.
   As for transferring old numbers and pics, if your old phone is broken, it’s not likely that Walmart will be able to help you, and if you have a different phone service from before, you may not be able to get anyone to do it for you.
   Unlimited texting is usually $10 per month extra on contracts, not sure if it’s available on pre-paid. I think most carriers charge $1 per day for unlimited texting, but I haven’t checked in awhile.

   With any prepaid cell phone you have to purchase the phone at a retail store like Walmart, Best Buy or Target store. Most prepaid cell phone will cost less than $100.00 depending on which company you want to go to. Make sure you read all the brochures they have at the store since most prepaid plans have rates per minute for the day or you can choose a monthly plan. Some can be really expensive.
   Once you read through the brochures and know which cell phone company you would like to go with then you will look at the cell phones they have and pick one that you like.
   You will then pay for the cell phone. You will need to also purchase refill cards for the 1st month enough to cover your rate plan that you want. The retail store will not activate the phone for you but you will do it yourself. Inside the phone is the number to call and activate your service
   When you call the customer service, this is when you decide what plan you want and also use your refill cards.
