I’ll give it till Boxing day till she’s locked it up
Two words….. Irresponsible parenting. Who is paying for the calls? No wonder the kids of today have got no respect!
iThink 6 is too young for a mobile phone. She could lose it or have it stolen.
Why on earth does a 7 year old nee a phone, yes she is too young to have one
Your taking the ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I think so because at that age kids don’t go too many places by themselves,
Maybe when she is in junior high and starts joining sports and basketball and going on dates and such she would have a need for a phone
She’s not old enough and I better watch my mouth because I feel very strongly about irresponsible parents like you. Some four letter words come to mind only I daren’t use them on this site, although I don’t care about violation notices. Eat my shorts! You’ve bought the phone knowing of the dangers, knowing the microwaves fry the brain, knowing they can cause brain tumours. Go on the National Radiological Society website if you really want to know. If you’ve bought her one so she can phone you if she has a problem then shame on you. You’re the parent, not the bloo@y phone. Children ought to be banned from using them. She’ll probably get mugged and have it taken off her. Have you thought of that at all? Stupid, stupid person.
Yes its the right age for he to improve her knowledge. You did the right thing tell her how to use it.
As a parent-to a parent- GET A GRIP LADY!!!!
Let your 6 year old be just that …6
OH____sorry 7
COME ON!!!!!
MOM_ YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!
Um….YES.
Why on Earth would a six year old need a cell phone??????????????
Not much use asking our opinion … you appear to have made up your mind.
However, a phone for a 6 year old? Oh, please!
She shouldn’t need a phone because She shouldn’t be anywhere where She’d need to ring You quickly.
Good for keeping an eye on the little tyke. Don’t see why not under supervision.
Personally I think she’s much too young, but it’s your choice.
She probably doesn’t need it if she’s six since she’ll either be around you or some other trusted parent most of the time.Think of when and for what she would use it for: probably not to chat with friends since she would probably rather play with them and can you trust her with something so expensive or would it become a hassle? I honestly wouldn’t worry about getting my kid a phone until their at least 12. But that’s just me.
She’s too young. Most kids get a cell phone at the age of 10-12 unless you’re trying to spoil her then whatever.
In my opinion, I think that you should re-think your options. At six, children do not possess much discriminatory power– so what will prevent them from giving their number to a stranger?
Also, by you giving her the phone might send her the message that you no longer care about her. Strange as it may seem, at that age children should not be anywhere without adult supervision. Giving her the phone will show to her that you don’t care where she is, just as long as she calls and lets you know that she isn’t there. Plus, giving her a cell phone will give her an excuse to not be with you… do you really want that?
A mobile phone is a great responsibility, despite it not seeming so. It is irresponsible for a parent to give a child a mobile phone when the child is at an age where she really should not be anywhere away from her parents.
personaly if shes anything like mine at that age,you will either find it in the bath when you pull the plug,or you wont see it for ages, and then you will start finding pieces of it bit by bit.
I believe it is ok to get a child a cell phone if it is made clear it is used for emergency purposes. I bought my little cousin a Firefly cellphone last year for XMas (she was 4yrs old). It’s a safe way for a child that age to be able to call immediate family members just in case. It’s easily programmed with numbers and the child will only be able to dial those numbers. The phone comes with 30 prepaid minutes and anything after that you have to purchase at a store or reload the phone online. It has cool accessories, faceplates, etc so they can still feel grown up. As far as getting a child an actual cellphone that isn’t kid friendly, I think that’s a bit much.
umm Yes!!! way to young!!
6 years old should not be running around with a cell phone
should she playing with barbies or something!
I think given her a phone with credit on is a bit silly, but given her a phone to recieve calls on from you or family is ok!
Make sure that the battery is fully charged.
There’s nothing more frustrating for a kid than waiting for the battery to charge when you’ve got your lovely new mobile.
BTW you can buy ‘em new for about £15 from Argos sales.
BTW You can also use the fone to track where the kis is if you get a Prog. off the internet.
Why do you care what we think…you already bought the phone. Yes, shes too young……take it back and let her be a child again.
a bit too young. i guess you have doubts yourself. i hope she looks after it and is strong enough to stop other kids taking it from her.
Did you need a phone when you were 7 ( I think not ) . No child needs a phone and you are a bad parent for giving her one in my book.
Really the only reason a kid that young should have a phone is for emergency use, it should be locked to any unknown numbers and have all the contact numbers for parents ect on speed dial, as well the child should be taught how to use properly so they know…but a kid that old does not need a phone for chit chatting friends and stuff, way to young for that.
disregarding possible health implications 6 is still much too young for a mobile phone, she should be out playing with her friends not phoning/texting them. This could begin a habit that becomes hard to break, and expensive to maintain.
what the hell does a 6 year old need a mobile for?
Get her something to improve her mind
yes, she’s too young. give her a toy phone……. some toys.
something that she can learn and be creative from, dolls she can comb their hair, chemistry, lab coats books so she can play teacher. stuff like that
I think its too young personally myself, but in this society it wouldnt be too bad because at least it will give you peace of mind and security for her. if you had gone to woolworths you can get a phone for a tenner brand new.
What would she want a mobile phone for? She must be a popular young girl!
