Many years ago I ran a mobile commerce group for a large, global systems integrator and was involved with many organisations exploring the potential of using the mobile phone as a replacement wallet. After all, most people can always …

Nokia 6628 in offline…not accepting sim card

2 years ago my mom bought an unlocked Nokia 6628 on ebay. She has used this phone for this amount of time with her wireless company and just recently decided to upgrade and gave me her phone. She lives in the US but I live in Mexico. I am trying to use the phone down here with Telcel wireless with my Sim card that I have been using. The phone says that it is in offline mode and when I try to change the profile to normal it tells me to put in a Sim card even though it has one. Why would this be? What can I do!? Very frustrating, hope someone can help me!  Thanks in advance!!

N97 online video conferencing

Hi,   Does anyone know of any way to use the secondary camera on the N97 to carry out a real-time chat with video conferencing online. I hear that skype will be out in the last quater of this year (2009) for the N97. Will that include video calls?   I’ve been using Nimbuzz recently which integrates google talk, msn messenger, skype, facebook and a raft of other things. However it only seems to do voice or text chatting. Anyone know of any alternatives running video chat?   Secondary – does anyone know a way to set this video conference up online with more than 1 person?   Thanks

Resistive vs. Capacitive Screen? Honest Advice?

Hi all, I have been hearing alot about the resistive screen of the N97 & not being a capacitive one as on iPhone & others. I really do not know what is the exact difference & way is Nokia still using it while other manufacturers no longer do? Advantages / Disadvantages of both? and so so so… I appreciate if anyone provide me with an honest explanation from a user point of view & a technical one as well. Thanks in advance…

New hp G60 laptop problem – USB recognition?

I just got a new laptop, and at first everything was dandy and swell.  I bought a cordless mouse, that wirelessly connected to a complementary USB drive.  The other day, it stopped working.  I tried everything from changing the batteries, restarting my computer, and reconnecting it.  The next day I tried it again and it worked for a while but then it stopped working again.  Today, I found myself aggrivated at the adorable pink wireless monster, so I tried it out on a different computer and found it functional.  So I tried putting in a Jump Drive to see if my laptop would recognize it… but it didn’t.  I tried all three USB ports, but to no avail.  I tried using the ‘help’ section or what-it-may-be-called, but couldn’t find anything to help me troubleshoot or perform an active search for any appliances plugged in through the ports.  But I couldn’t.   Maybe I was searching under the incorrect criteria, or perhaps my computer has just been possessed.  If there’s a problem with the actual laptop, I’d like to fix it, because it’s new and I adore it with a part of my soul.  I even considered naming it, but now I fear that may lead to too much attachment if I have to do something drastic.   Again, hp G60 laptop not recognizing USB ports.  Help?

Changing Network Providers

I have a Nokia 5800 brought from Vodafone New Zealand but would like to change to the Telecom XT network, from what I have been reading on Google is that I would need a Amercian version of the Nokia 5800, is it possible to use a generic firmware or would I need to buy another phone? Some people have said that the Nokia 5800d-1 will not work on Telecom XT which I have but the Nokia 5800-2 will which I don’t have.

How to send an sms/mms with N97 for a non-default number of a contact?

Hi all, This is something I used to do with my N95 8GB but no longer able to with my N97! I have several contacts, each contact have several numbers. I assigned defaults for all of them for sending messages & dialing. However, sometimes, I need to send an sms/mms to a non-default number for a contact. Previously on N95 8GB, I go to that contact, select the non-default number, options, then send message. Now with the N97, when I go to the contact, select the non-default number, options, I do not find any option to send sms/mms. My only choice is to select number options> Copy to clipboard, then close the contact, open messages, then write messages, then under the field "To" I paste that number… Isn’t this lengthy & annoying compared to the easy way with N95 8GB? Did anyone notice this & come up with a better solution that I am currently doing?… Thanks for the help..

N95 8GB – Default Code 12345 Not working

I want to reset my phone to original factory settings and my phone does not accepts default code 12345, how can this issue be resolved.

PC Suit does not identify my N95 8GB

I bought a used N95 8GB Phone with software version V 20.0.016, 28-02-08 RM-320.   Installed cable driver version 7.1.17.0 and PC Suit version 7.1.30.9 and restarted system.   To update sofware, When I connect my phone with my laptop (Windows XP) via USD Cable DKE-2, phone gives two options ‘Mass Storage’ and ‘Com Port’, I selected mass storage mode and start connecting via PC Suit but after some effort of connecting to phone it fails and gives message please check cable drivers or its properly connected.   I tried to reset phone to original factory settings but it does not accepts 12345 code.   I’ll appreciate help.

N97 Unable to update!!!

Hi all, hope someone can help. Been trying for hours to update the phone as I had a text that an important update was available, when I look in the available updates on the phone the Important one is there for download but it won’t do anything, just says to update with PC Suite.   So, I have tried updating with PC Suite / Software Updater and it says either it cannot find my phone, or that it is in file manage mode (which it isn’t) I have reinstalled both the Suite and Updater several times as Nokia suggest but no difference.   All other functions are fine, and little Phone Icon on my taskbar is showing green.   Any advice????   Cheers Â
